Welcome to The Gumshoe Haiku Online Collection of Haiku Poems

After years of writing Haiku, I realized I'd better start keeping track of them in a single place.

I truly enjoy the simplicity of the genre, especially when life can be so complicated. Most of these simply come to me in moments of reflection. If the words don't float by like clouds in my view, I do not waste too much time searching for them. If you are not familiar with the Haiku poetry form, I've put a link somewhere over there on the right side of the page so you can get a bit more information. The only true rule I follow is the 5-7-5 syllabic structure. I tend to not worry about using a season word or cutting word as do the true Japanese Haiku.

I am a private detective (thus the word "gumshoe" in the title), a martial arts instructor and student, wife and mom. Those are definitely not listed in order of importance.

If you're nosy or curious, you can read more about me in detail in the "about me" section to the right. Otherwise, read on. Enjoy. Feel free to leave comments. Above all: relax.

Race each other behind clouds,
Rolling overhead.

The moon shows tints of fall trees,
The cool air calms me.

Dragonflies flying,

Across a field of tall grass,

I watch them and smile.

The bat's crooked path,
Seems unusual to us,
But ends in success.

Old rain drips from trees,
Echoing through the hollow,
Liquid symphony.

Lumbering so peacefully,
Through the cool green grass.

Unbridled passion,
In all that one undertakes,
Insures one's success.
The hawk flies away,
Clutching its prey in its claws,
It does not linger.

The future holds all,
The dreams you can imagine,
If you make it so.

Bullfrogs and crickets,
Nightengales and cicadas,
Lull us off to sleep.
Horses are lowing,
I am loving country life,
Owl on the fence post.

God's way is aloft.

you winning the lottery,
where will you spend it?

The dog and cats lie,
The horses are standing still,
Learn from their stillness.

The fox sits so serenely,
A standoff for one.

without consideration,

I sat with my dog,
and watched the leaves silently,
as they fell to earth.

Some drivers totally suck,
During the rush hour!

Sun between the clouds,
gave me hope for the new day,
I can't stand the rain.

Little wagging tails,
There is happiness on tap,
Youthful energy!
Sitting on the porch,
Listening to all the sounds,
I love the country.
Stress does not exist.
It is only perception,
Of the day's events.
Stillness is vital,
To appreciate the world,
That spins regardless.
Do not forget Him.
He has not forsaken you.
He is always there
The moon overhead,
Floats in and out of the clouds,
Like dreams through the mind.

Motivation:
I was awakened in the wee hours by one of our puppies who requested that I take him outside.
Felines are sneaky,
Little people in fur coats.
Don't let them fool you.

Motivation:
We have three cats in our home. Enough said.
